blog award!

so, i'm about a week late at actually doing this, but it's been crazy around here! i got my very first (and very neat) blog award!

With my award, I must follow a few other simple rules:

1. You must thank the person that gave it to you and display a link to their blog.

that would be Kim at the phillips family! she is one of my favorite people on the planet, and one of my best friends in the world, and i hardly remember a time when i didn't know her! even though i hardly get to see her anymore, I know she's always there for me! so thanks kim, for my blog award!!!

2. I must tell you all ten honest things about myself.

alright. you asked for it:

1. I'm allergic to avocados and bananas, but from time to time i will eat sushi with avocado in it, even though it makes me feel miserable. you'll never catch me eating a banana though, cause it would very likely kill me.

2. i know WAY too much useless trivia - especially about music (most specifically, music of the 80's) - i would like to assemble a world series of pop culture team someday and compete on Vh1

3. I'm completely obsessed with Hello Kitty, and at one time, I had an entire set of Hello Kitty kitchen appliances (in fact, one of Gene's first gifts to me was a hello kitty toaster oven)....unfortunately they all caught on fire/exploded, so i have to now drink coffee out of a normal coffee maker, and my toast no longer has hello kitty's face burned into it. bummer.

4. one of my biggest pet peeves is when people show what i like to call "a complete disregard for the english language" by using horrific grammar in conversation, or spelling words incorrectly to a point that they are butchering them.

5. one of my favorite movies of all time is josie and the pussycats. i know pretty much every word to it, and i still laugh every time i see it.

6. sometimes i wear the same perfume as my grandmother did (chanel mademoiselle), because it makes me feel closer to her

7. the night that i had my first date with gene, i had spent the last few months going on really bad first dates, and made a promise to myself that if the date went badly (which i totally expected it to), i was going to take a 6 month hiatus from dating. i ended up staying out til 3 a.m. and had the time of my life on what has turned out to be my last first date EVER (and my BEST first date too, i might add!)

8. i love my dogs more than almost anything, and treat them sometimes like they are children.

9. i recently started collecting vinyl with the fiance - we don't have many albums yet, but we have a pretty good starter collection.

10. i call my parents at some point every single day, and even though its not intentional, i always somehow manage to call right before they are about to sit down to eat dinner - it's become a running joke that when i call, my dad picks up the phone and immediately says "we aren't eating yet - call back in a few minutes"

3. You have to present this award to others whose blogs you find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged you.

i present this award to kim killingsworth at identity crisis - we met on our very first day working at victoria's secret, and she quickly became one of my very best friends - we are so much alike sometimes that its eerie.....she's one of the most fabulous people i know, someone i could trust with anything and everything, and i'm really lucky to have her in my life!

....i think everyone else on my blog list has already gotten this!!!
