couple's shower

we had a couple's shower last weekend in helena, and it was totally fabulous!

of course, we're in the middle of spring, and there were quite a few other events going on in town AND out of town that weekend (lots of college graduations!), so i wasn't sure how many people would be able to attend, but we had an incredible turnout! i didn't even get to talk to probably half the people there!!!

the shower was given by a large group of people who are very near and dear to me. they did such and awesome job from the decorations and the food, to the entertainment (a blues guitarist, who was beyond incredible!), and i couldn't feel more lucky, blessed OR loved than i did that night. it was so great to see so many faces of people who have been important to me all my life, there to support gene and i as we take this huge step in our lives!

i really meant to take pictures, and sincerely regret not taking the time to do so - in my defense, i spent most of the night trying to get around just to hug the necks of as many people as i possibly could, and trying to introduce gene to people he hasn't gotten to meet yet, so the picture-snapping sort of took a backseat, but there were so many things i wish i'd gotten pics of! the musician, the super cute table decor, THE CUPCAKES.....hopefully my mom was able to get at least a few good shots!

we also got a LOT of gifts at the shower! it felt like christmas morning on steroids! we got so many things that we'd registered for at the stores in Helena, and i'm so excited to get to use it all (though i'm currently trying to figure out where we will even PUT it all!!!! believe me, i'll come up with some brilliant solution, i'm sure!) i've got so many thank you notes to write this weekend!!!

last weekend was also mother's day, so it was nice to get to spend some time at home with the family, especially mom, even though i sort of felt guilty, because it seemed like all the attention was on me (and gene) and wedding related stuff. i got mom a cymbidium orchid plant and a couple of charms for her pandora bracelet for mother's day, and i think she liked them, so that's always good! we also went (along with my dad, grandfather and brother) to mothers day lunch.

the wedding is so quickly my head is spinning! so much to do, so little time....

How is it possible that we got the exact same things for our mom. The. Exact. Same. Gift. We didn't discuss it did we? We're morphing in to the same person. Next thing I know you're going to have twins named benjalina and chloely. Please, don't name your kids that.
