Gene has needed a new car for some time now, and lately he has been talking about it more and more frequently. He had decided to wait until after things had settled down after the wedding, but he had seen a few online at a local dealership that were almost exactly what he has been wanting. We went to dinner last night, and on the way stopped by the dealership to take a look, and to get more specific info on the ones he'd seen on the website. I know gene, and really big purchases like this aren't things that he takes lightly. In fact, I figured he would go look at the cars, talk some specifics with a sales guy, and then decide to think about it, talk himself out of it altogether and put it off for another 6 months.
Gene had a very specific amount he was willing to spend on a car. He new what was reasonable for him price-wise and he wasn't willing to budge. I expected to see some sort of car salesman "sorry, this is the best I can do" showdown like I'd experienced whenever I'd been involved in the buying of a car, but this was really quite the opposite.
The guy not only met gene's demands, but exceeded them, and when all was said and done, he got the car he wanted for even LESS than his bottom line, and surprised the hell out of me by buying the car right then.....
This is Otto (my car, Harold, is in the background), the newest member of our family. He's a volkswagen passat, and im super in love with him. Plus, i feel much less stressed knowing that gene is in a better, safer car than the honda prelude he just traded in.
Congrats on your fab new ride, penguin!!!
